C. R. Amery

Brand New Author

A fifty something year old guy who found his passion for writing later in life. People say you should write what you know about and that is exactly what I am doing, writing about my lovely girl Ladt Gwendolyn, the English Bulldog.

My Story

Hello, I’m C. R. Amery.

For most of my life, I never imagined I would become a children’s author.

In 2019, at the age of 51, I was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism, along with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and dyslexia. While the diagnosis helped explain many of the challenges I had faced throughout my life, it also helped me discover something unexpected… a love of writing.

People often say that writers should write about what they know, and when I sat down to think about that advice, the answer was surprisingly obvious.

At the time, my partner G and I were living in a tiny house on a farm with our English Bulldog, Gwen. The farm was full of wildlife, hidden corners, old buildings, woodland paths, and endless opportunities for adventure. Before long, I found myself imagining what might happen if the animals had their own secret lives, their own friendships, and their own mysteries to solve.

That simple idea became The Trufflepot Gang.

Many of the places in the books are inspired by real locations, and Gwen herself became the inspiration for the series’ brave and thoughtful leader. The stories are filled with mystery, friendship, teamwork, humour, and the belief that even the most unlikely heroes can achieve great things when they work together.

When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me spending time with G and Gwen, exploring the countryside, working on new stories, or dreaming up the next adventure for the Trufflepot Gang.

Thank you for visiting.

I hope you enjoy exploring Trufflepot Farm as much as I enjoy creating it.
